Rachel Marie Price

Rachel Marie PriceRachel Marie Price, 18, died February 28, 2013.  Although, she was killed and ripped from our lives by a drunk driver, we know God decides when to take his children back.  We take comfort she walks as an Angel in Heaven, because she was an Angel here on Earth.

Rachel Marie Price was born July 11, 1994, in Melbourne Florida, to Donnie Lee Price Jr. and Eva Marie Claudio-Price.

Rachel Marie is survived by her Father Donnie Price Jr., her Mother Eva Marie Claudio-Price, her brothers Brandon Price and Ryan Price, her Grandfather Richard Claudio, Grandfather Donnie Price Sr. and Grandmother Jean Price, a number of Great Aunts and Great Uncles, and Aunts and Uncles, names are Richard and Cecelia Claudio, Raymond and April Claudio, Pamela (Claudio) and Scott Levenduski, Matthew Claudio, Vincent Price, Crystal Price, and her cousins Lyndsey, Ricky, Vincent Jr., Marissa, Robert, Xenia, Rayna, Bryce, Erik, Raymond, John, and Landis. Rachel now joins her grandmother Elvira Claudio in Heaven.

She began her soccer career when she was 4 years old in Melbourne Beach Soccer Club. Her teams were Tsunami, Space Coast United, Brevard FC, Lady Renegades, H.C. United, and the Tampa Bay Hellenic.  At Melbourne High School, she helped her Lady Bulldogs win 3 consecutive State Championships. She was a member of the United States U-15, U-17 and U-18 Women’s National Teams.

Rachel was High School All-American in her Junior year.  In her senior year, she transferred to Palm Bay High School. She graduated from Palm Bay High School. Rae had the opportunity to play soccer at Eckerd College where she made an immediate impact athletically as well as academically. She was named 2012 Sunshine State Conference Commissioners Fall Honor Roll, 2010 State Player of The Year and a High School All American. She continued her passion and trained hard following ACL reconstruction to achieve her goals of one day playing in the World Cup, becoming a member of the United States U-20 Women’s National Team, and represent her country in the Olympics.

Rachel had a drive in her like no other. She set specific goals and was able to accomplish every one of them until February 28.  When she was younger around 8 years old, she was given a notebook by one of her trainers. She was asked to write down her dreams.  She told him I don’t need to write them down because I am going to make them all happen.  She wanted to be the youngest player to make the Olympic Soccer Team knowing she had to at least match Mia at 16.

She was born to play soccer and make a difference in the lives of others.  Rachel could accomplish anything she set her mind to.  She loved spending time on the pitch, being with her family and her friends.  This should not have happened.  We should not outlive our children.  God gives us our children as blessings and we are so blessed he gave her to us. We just wish we could have had her longer. We are so proud to know how many lives Rachel Marie has touched and the enormity of her spirit is overwhelming.  Some people never accomplish in a lifetime what she accomplished in such a short period of time. We love and miss you with all of our hearts, Rachel Marie.

  • It’s been over a year now and it still doesn’t seem real. I feel as if you are away but not from this world. Sometimes when I sitting at the soccer fields watching your cousins, I feel your spirit. When the wind blows, your spirit flows right through me. My hair stands up and I have goose bumps. It’s a wonderful feeling. I am ashamed of myself because I feel as if I talk to you more, live for you more, and tell you I love you more now than when I should have. What I wouldn’t give to wrap my arms around and tell you how much I love you, how proud I am of you, and what an extraordinary young woman you have become. I will never understand why..why your life with us ended so tragically..why..why..why?! We all miss you and love you so very much! Your cousins are playing soccer :)! They’re not too bad..lol! They can use a little help from their guardian angel ;). They are playing I think because it makes them feel closer to you. They really miss you! Lyndsey too. If only we could turn back time and erase that night. I love you Rachel Marie! Give mima a kiss and hug! I’ll be seeing you in my dreams♡

  • my thoughts prayers and love are with you now and always!! It is so hard to know what to say, what can help and how to help. Such a tragedy and so unfair and so wrong. There are so many emotions but I quess as one mom to another all I can say is; what a beautiful woman you created, what a amazing, talented, driven, successful and truly wonderful person you raised!!! God gave you that gift because he knew what a loving family, a dedicated and amazing family she was going to. Just know in your heart she is in heaven with so much of our family, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins!!! All amazing love filled angels, they sing dance and made us all laugh, a laugh from the gut. What a family, here and there!! All to be part of the ultimate reunion! When this family is together time stops, if it is ten minutes, ten months or ten years when we are together the love can be felt, just as she is in the arms of love right now.
This life is just a tiny moment when compared to the gift of eternity with all our loved ones! We must all take this journey no matter how hard but, remember we are being watched, still loved and guided by our loved ones on the other side. They smile knowing what we can not imagine, the pure joy that our eternity will bring, and when it is time we will all take that journey to our true, eternal home and that’s when true “life” will begin!!! They are all there knowing the awe we will have when we too get there. This is just one step on our journey to eternity, all together, all healthy, all happy, all knowing and all this, forever!!!!!! So know for now I feel for you and I pray for you and I know when it is our time we will all be together again. And feel for them, close your eyes, open your arms wide a feel their spirits surround and embrace you, take a deep breath and allow them to help you. Please Believe, it is our most powerful gift here on earth,Believe!!!! Love always, donna

  • Dear Donnie and family,

Our deepest sympathy in your tragic loss of your dear child Rachel. May you find comfort in the thoughts and prayers of your friends, family, and all those who loved her.

    Our hearts break for you.

  • What though the radiance
    which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
    Of splendour in the grass,
    of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
    Strength in what remains behind…..

Our thoughts and prayers are always with you my dear cousin. We are comforted in knowing that we have any angel looking down on us.

May the Lord comfort you and Donny in the knowledge that Rachel is with Him and in the choir of angels.

    We love you.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I have no words that could begin to console you, but will pray for God to give you solace. May you find some peace in your beautiful memories of your amazing daughter. God bless you.

My only comfort is you are with Mima now watching over us.
I promise I will live my life with you in my heart and make sure my children will always remember what a beautiful person you were inside and out. How you always stood up for others, how you always carried yourself and what you believed can happen your drive made that a reality. God I miss her. Rachel how I miss you!!!!!!
FOREVER IN MY HEART, THOUGHTS, PRAYERS AND DECISIONS!!!!!!

  • Our prayers go out to Eva, Donnie, Brandon and Ryan and the entire Price and Claudio Families during this sad time. It was only a few weeks ago that we were watching the video of Rachel in her toddler dancing class. Although ballet wasn’t her thing;she became well known using her feet in soccer. Now she is dancing in heaven. Sending love & hugs.

We are heartbroken….may you find peace and comfort in the memories of your beautiful, sweet, Rachel. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

  • Dearest Donnie and family, you are in my deepest thoughts and the center of my prayers. May God be with you.

    Love, Gail

  • Donnie, Eva, Brandon and Ryan……words can not express my sorrow for your loss. It’s a loss for the entire world, because Rachel was a person who could have really changed it for the better—look at all she accomplished in just the short time she was here. Your family has always had a special place in my heart….from the first day you came to Apollo preschool and brought little Brandon and Rachel wasn’t even born yet. Remember when we had the preschool graduation??? We did “Buffalo Girls Won’t you Come Out Tonight?” Rachel was the leader, because I knew she could do it and she WANTED to do it!!! We will love her ( and all of YOU) always!! <3

  • Rest in peace sweet Rachel, love you Eva, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • Dear price family,

I was so shocked to hear of Rachel’s passing. She was such an amazing person. i remember the first time i met her, it was my sophomore year at Mel-Hi i was the new girl just moved from Texas and i was trying to find my class, Rachel noticed and took the time out to help walk me to each of my classes and show me the ins and outs of the school, allowed me to eat lunch with her and introduced me to her friends. She made my first day so much better. I will never forget that beautiful smile she always had. She was a great friend and will be missed so much. I know she is watching over us and just smiling as big as she can. I find peace in knowing she is up in Heaven with Our Heavenly Father, and that one day i will see her again. I dont know the pain of losing a child, but i do know the pain of losing a very close loved one.

All my prayers are with your family at this time of lost.

    R.I.P. Rachel <3

You are missing and Never will be Forgotten!

    XOXOXO

  • We are so sad and our thoughts and prayers go to the whole family. Rachel and Lyndsay practically grew up on the soccer field since they were babies watching their brothers and Alyssa play just waiting for their turn. We know how much you willo miss her and there are no words that could comfort you right now. You just need to know how much she was loved and the impact she made on everyone she met. She made a difference. God Bless You All.

  • Rachel,

You have always been a good friend to me. This was very unexpected and if I had a wish, I would bring back the two of you because you guys didn’t deserved to go this way. On the other hand, this is life and you have lived a very prestigious life here on earth. We will all meet one day again and everyone you influenced, won’t be the same without you, but one thing I know is that Jesus will take care of you. Goodbye for now Rachel until we meet again. 🙁

Condolences goes out to the Price’s family and Cook’s family.

    Best Regards,
    Khalill Virgo

  • I read about Rachel while I’m my second period class last Friday and couldn’t hold it together. To think the one person, win or lose, would have a smile on her face was now gone hurt. The feeling of that loss will just hit me even harder tomorrow. I think back to those days and wish I had been closer, wish I had talked to you more, but in the two years we played together now mean everything to me. Thank you for having such an impact on my life Rachel. Say hey to my boy Key for me. I’ll never forget either of you.

    Sincerely,
    Brett Pinkerton

God Bless You Price Family. Peace Be With You!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rachel was an amazing person; an absolute joy to watch on the soccer field and a respectful young lady who always had a kind word to say. I feel blessed to have known her and blessed to be able to count her as a member of the Hellenic family. Even at her young age, she was a leader and an inspiration to us all. I remember with fondness our late night conversations at the end of road trips, while she was waiting for her ride to pick her up. I was amazed at her maturity, and her ability to see the bright side of every situation. Rachel, I will never forget the life lessons that you were able to teach this old lady, and I will definitely never ever forget you.

  • Dearest Price Family,
May the love that surrounds you during this tragic time lift your hearts and melt away the pain and suffering. Words cannot begin th express the ache I felt in my heart when I heard that our precious abet precocious Rachel had been taken from us. Your have been in my thoughts constantly and I will continue to pray for all of you.

    Much love,
    Trish

  • Eva, donnie bradon and ry- rachael influence on kates life was immeasurable. She was kates big sis. Riding the bike to school together and RaeRae taking kate under her wing to teach her soccer. We will all miss her.

  • Im gonna miss my dear friend Rachel Price. She was not only my friend, but a teammate. Im truly gonna cherish the memories we had on and off the field. I will miss those days at ODP. You were always in your element and focused when it came to soccer. I always enjoyed playing against you during the high school season. You really truly inspired me to become a better soccer player. Even though soccer is over and done..I want to thank you for making me work harder and to never give up during those years. I wish I could of told you that but I know you probably know that. I remember that night at our friends birthday..we had the best night of our lives and I’m really glad I got to spend time with you. I enjoyed every minute of it. I wish we could of kept in touch but I know your an angel watching down on me. You will truly be missed Rachel but you will never be forgotten. You made an impact to the soccer community.

    Love always,

  • Our heart was broken
without a warning no words spoken
    you were taken away
someone said you could not stay

Empty and lonely is what we are
we lost a precious shining star
    Your family torn apart
your world began with a promising start

    Life is unfair
This difficult cross your friends and family must bear
strength and courage we pray they will find
a special young woman always in our mind

A place in heaven is where you sit
looking at that star you lit
in our thoughts forever you will be
never knowing why someone set you free

    Rest in Peace

  • Rachel Price was one of the best athletes I have ever worked with. Her passion and drive to compete was second to none. She was the type of athlete that made a coach’s job easy. A bright and wonderful communicator who always had a funny story to tell each day she stopped by my office to talk. She will be truly missed and never forgotten.

Rest In Paradise Rachel Price God needed you!

    Coach Felder and Family

  • The Bress family (Pam, Jim, Elizabeth, Kimberly, and Natalie) have known Rachel since we first met her on the soccer pitch in Melbourne Beach when Rachel was about 8 years old. Rachel was helping the girls (only slightly younger than her) with soccer skills and mostly just having fun. Rachel was so sweet that first time we met her and we know she always kept that sense of caring about other people up to her last day. We will all miss Rachel very much and we will hold on to the memories we have of such a wonderful person.
    …The Bress Family

  • Donnie, Eva, Brandon and Ryan,
I can’t put into words how sad and devistatated we were when we heard the news. Please know that we love you and that we will never forget what an awesome person Rachel was.
The mark she left after such a short time on this earth is so big that her memory will live on in so many of us.
Your whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.
Jon, Holly, Maggie and Lincoln Hays

  • Words cannot express our deepest sympathies…
The Turner family….Gary, Kelli, Erica & Cole

    • With a heavy heart I write this to Eva and Donnie —- our children hold a unique place in our soul. They reach deep down into the depth of our heart that can never be reached by anyone esle. I believe the Lord has that place put aside for only those most significant in our lives – our children. When they leave us an emptiness sets in. No words can express the lose.

I am so very sorry …..

      Linda Lindenberg
